Antonio Karim Lanfranchi

Antonio Karim Lanfranchi is an experienced physician and psychoanalyst trained at the C.G. Jung Institute in Küsnacht, Zürich. He grew up in a multicultural environment and studied medicine in Milan, where he later specialized in cardiology. He has worked for more than three decades in clinical practice across Italy and France.

Midway through his medical career, he completed his training in analytical psychology, bringing together medicine and depth psychology around a central question: what manifests when time can no longer be treated as abstract or indefinitely expandable?

Working daily with the heart – both as organ and as symbol – he has seen how the ideal of being separable, self-sufficient, and permanently in control often proves fragile. Modern culture promotes autonomy as a given; clinical experience reveals our embeddedness in conditions we did not create and cannot fully master.

Time, in this perspective, is not a resource to optimize but the medium in which value matures. Authority becomes less about preserving control and more about remaining engaged – with a fully invested heart – in relationships and processes that exceed the self. Maturity lies not only in autonomy, but in fostering growth that is not only one’s own.

Antonio lives and works in Milan.
